THANK YOU AFSCME California Members! We Did It!

 

Thanks to the overwhelming support of AFSCME members up and down the state, Alan came in with the most votes for California IVP.  Alan received over 63,000 votes or nearly 94% of the available votes!

"I am truly excited and appreciative of all the support from California members. I am ready to get to work for all members in our state.  Members can rest assured that there will be regular recurring meetings regionally!"  said Alan.

LA County Supervising Child Support Officers, Local 1083, Endorse Alan!

 

With a mere 4 days until California members nominate candidates for California International Vice-President, our member driven campaign for IVP earned the important endorsement of AFSCME Local 1083, LA County Supervising Child Support Officers. Early in the campaign, President of 1083, Irene Hernandez-Blair, endorsed our member focused campaign.

"I am excited to have received the support of fellow members at 1083 who do the tireless work of looking out for our children. I will proudly represent the members of Local 1083 at the International Executive Board when I am elected IVP"  said Alan.

Chapter 36 Retirees Stand With and Endorse Alan!

 

With only 5 days until the California IVP nominating caucuses, our member driven campaign for International Vice-President has earned the unanimous endorsement of the Chapter 36 Retirees. With this endorsement, Alan has earned the support of the two largest Retiree Chapters in California.

"It is truly humbling to receive the endorsement of Southern California's Chapter 36 Retirees. I am thankful to have received the support of both, Chapter 36 and Chapter 57 Retirees, I will be sure to look out for the interest of our Retirees in D.C. when I am elected IVP"  said Alan.

Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD), Local 206 President,
Dr. Stuart Bussey M.D. endorses Alan!

 

With the countdown to California IVP nominating caucuses only 8 days out, our member driven campaign for International Vice-President has picked up even more mementum as Dr. Stuart Bussey, MD, JD, UAPD President endorses Alan.

"I heartily endorse Alan for IVP. Besides his experience and dedication to AFSCME he is an accomplished pilot. I have no doubt that he will use those skills of forward thinking, great vision and reaction and situational awareness to fly us out of any clouds and into the wild blue yonder"  said Dr. Bussey.

Kathryn Lybarger, 3299 President & California IVP backs Alan!

Our campaign for California International Vice-President received a truly resounding statement of support when the current California IVP, and candidate for re-election, Kathryn Lybarger and AFSCME Local 3299 both endorsed our campaign. "I truly appreciate the personal endorsement by Kathryn as well as the members of 3299. Receiving the endorsement of an incumbent IVP truly speaks volumes and I am honored to have received it" said Alan.

 

Kathyrn Lybarger is the President of AFSCME Local 3299 - the University of California system's largest employee union - representing more than 23,000 workers at UC Campuses, Medical Centers, and Research laboratories across the state. Kathryn was elected IVP in 2012 at the 40th International Convention in Los Angeles, Alan and Local 1902 have endorsed Kathryn's re-election campaign for IVP in 2016.

LOCALS 444, 829 & SCVWD President Endorse Alan!

 

The outpouring of support from members and leaders up and down the entire state continues to grow at a rapid pace!

 

I am honored to have receive the endorsement of the second largest Local in Council 57.  Local 829, San Mateo County Workers Union and their President, Ryan Shannon have endorsed our campaign.  “I am honored and appreciative of Local 829 members and their support of our campaign, I am committed to looking out for the members of 829 in D.C.” said Alan.

 

I was humbled to also receive news that Local 444 and their 1st Vice-President, Ruben Rodriguez have also endorsed our campaign.  “I am humbled and very appreciative to have the endorsement and support of fellow members in the water sector at East Bay MUD” said Alan.

 

In addition to the endorsements by Locals 444 & 829; the President of Santa Clara Valley Water District Employees Association (SCVWDEA) Liz Bettencourt, has also endorsed Alan’s campaign for IVP.  “I truly appreciate the support of Liz and her endorsement of our campaign, I look forward to working for Liz and her members” said Alan.

AFSCME Local 2428 throws its support behind Alan!

 

"I am thankful to the members of Local 2428 and their President Mark Pearson for the support and endorsement of my campaign.  Having broad support up and down the state is very important to me.  I look forward to working hard for the members of Local 2428 and all members in California!"  said Alan.

 

AFSCME Local 2428 represents more than 600 park district employees who are responsible for designing and maintaining park lands and trails; developing naturalist and stewardship programs; and providing fire protection and water safety at the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD)

Sacramento County California Employees Endorse Alan!

 

With a mere 13 days until the California IVP nominating caucus in Las Vegas, our member driven campaign for International Vice-President has earned even more support with the endorsement of AFSCME Local 146, Sacramento County California Employees. AFSCME Local 146 represents numerous chapters in the Sacramento region.

"I thank the members and leaders of Local 146 and appreciate their support of our campaign for IVP. I look forward to bringing the concerns of Local 146 members to D.C. when I am elected IVP"  said Alan.

Founded by a private practice physician in 1972, over the last forty years the AFSCME Local 206, Union of American Physicians and Dentists has grown into the largest union represeting licensed doctors in the United States. UAPD members work for the State of California, California counties, non-profit healthcare clinics, and in private practice.

"I appreciate the support of Dr. Bussey and our rapport which began many years ago on the AFSCME California PEOPLE Steering Committee. As a doctor, attorney, and fellow pilot, Dr. Bussey's suuport speaks volumes and I look forward to representing Local 206 member in D.C. when I am elected IVP" said Alan.

Los Angeles Librarians and Humboldt County Employees Stand with Alan!

 

AFSCME Local 1684, the Humboldt County Public Employees Association was organized August 10, 1945 with one hundred employees. AFSCME Local 1684 is the exclusive representative for over 400 classifications in the County of Humboldt in white collar, blue collar, supervisory, and professional bargaining units; and non-management and non-confidential employees of the Humboldt County Superior Court, and Humboldt Transit Authority, and the Del Norte County Court Reporters.

"I am very thankful and feel very fortunate to have earned the backing of two more very diverse Locals. I traveled to Eureka, CA to meet with the 1684 board and members and appreciate them giving me their voice of confidence and support. I will ensure that the members of 1684 and Humboldt County have a hard working IVP in D.C. when I am elected" said Alan.

Additionally, AFSCME Local 2626, the Librarians' Guild, and their President Roy Stone have decided to endorse and support Alan's bid for IVP this year in Las Vegas. "I am very pleased to report, that you impressed everyone (not always an wasy thing to do with librarians) who you met yesterday. We gave this information to the Librarians' Guild Executive board and a motion was made and passed unanimously to endorse your candidacy for IVP. Thank you for you time yesterday it was enlightening and interesting and we look forward to having a representative for our Council and for our locals" said Roy Stone, President Local 2626 & Council 36 Treasurer. The Librarians' Guild represents the professional librarians of the Los Angeles Public Library.

Local 2076 Officers and Convention Delegates Endorse Alan!

Our member driven campaign for International Vice-President (IVP) recently received the support and endorsement of AFSCME Local 2076 Officers and Convention DelegatesRaymond Hartwell, President; Patricia Cortez, Vice-President; Manuel Cortez, Treasurer & Council 36 Vice-President; and Diana Corral, Recording Secretary.

"I thank the officers and delegates of Local 2076 for supporting and endorsing our member focused campaign for IVP. With the support of Local 2076 delegates and officers our campaign will be successful this year at Convention. I look forward to representing the members of Local 2076 in D.C. when I am elected IVP" said Alan.

AFSCME Local 2076 represents more than 1,000 dedicated public servants for the County of Orange. Orange County Eligibilty Workers have traditionally assisted some of the most vulnerable of our residents, including its senior citizens, disabled, and children.

AFSCME Local 3090 Enthusiastically Endorses Alan!

Our member driven campaign for International Vice-President (IVP) has earned the endorsement from one of the largest Locals in California and the largest in Council 36, AFSCME Local 3090"It is a great honor to have the support of 3090 members and leaders including Alice Goff, I am truly appreciate and humbled" said Alan.

"Local 3090 representing approximately 5000 Clerical and Support Services workers in the City of Los Angeles, enthusiastically endoreses Alan Shanahan for  International Vice President. It is our belief that Brother Shanahan will bring energy to this position continuing to grow our union and the labor movement while defending our right to collectively bargain. We think that with Alan's leadership we will be well positioned to tackle these issues head on and be successful" said Alice Goff, Local 3090 President and Council 36 President.

Council 57 Delegates Unanimously Endorse Alan!

"I am humbled to have the support of the members, leaders and delegates of Council 57!  The unanimous vote to endorse me and my campaign for IVP means a lot to me personally and is huge honor.  As I told the delegates at the meeting, all members of Council 57 will have a voice in D.C. with me.  I thank the Delegates for allowing me to earn the Council 57 endorsement!"  said Alan.

 

The Delegates of Council 57 represent members from the California-Oregon border to Southern California.  Each Local of the Council is entitled to at least one delegate; the delegates are the highest body of the Council.

Chapter 57 Retirees Endorse Alan!

 

"The Chapter 57 Retirees Endorsement means a lot to my campaign and me personally.  Our retirees are directly responsible for growing and strengthening our Union in California.  As the members, presidents and leaders of our Locals and Councils, retirees know the importance of having an IVP with Integrity who will advocate for all members in California!"  said Alan.

 

Alan also received the Personal endorsement of Jim Prola.  Jim is  a Chapter 57 Retiree member, Chapter 57 Retiree Political Chair and a San Leandro City Council member.

More California Leaders get behind Alan!

Alan received the backing of Erin Sicard who is the AFSCME Local 2620 State Psychologist Occupational Chair as well as the Government Affairs Committee Chair.  Alan also received the endorsement of Blake Kerr who is the  AFSCME Local 2620 Social Work Occupational Chair.

Burbank City Employees Assocation (BCEA)/Local 3143 and President
Pete Bova Endorse Alan!

 

Our member driven campaign for International Vice-President (IVP) has picked up even more momentum as another Southern California Affiliate and President endorses Alan. Burbank City Employees Association (BCEA), AFSCME Local 3143, and President Pete Bova have endorsed Alan.

 

"I am very grateful to receive the support of BCEA members, delegates and President. It was a pleasure meeting with Pete and getting to know the Local and discussing their concerns now and for the future. I look forward to working hard on behalf of BCEA and all members in California when I am elected IVP" said Alan.

BCEA came into existence in 1939, is a direct affiliate to the International and the largest of five bargaining units in the City of Burbank representing more than 750 employees.
